Play Condition Service
A play condition (PC) service is the basic check-up service for an instrument that needs routine maintenance or has been in storage for up to a year. The intention is that the instrument will play as intended and all moving parts will move as they should, and we may make recommendations for a more thorough repair in the future. It includes the following:
Restore basic function, including removal of up to 2 stuck parts OR repair of 1 solder point; lubricate all moving parts with synthetic lubricants; inspect and regulate valves as needed; replace waterkey corks; play test; sanitize/polish mouthpiece; vacuum case

Sonic Cleaning
A sonic cleaning is our recommendation for any new-to-you used instrument purchase, as well as a maintenance recommendation every 6-12 months, depending on usage. The full cleaning includes everything listed in the PC service above, as well as the following:
Complete disassembly; cleaning according to our five step process (pre-soak in degreaser, sonic clean in light base, treat in decalcifier if appropriate, neutralizing dip, manual scrub/rinse); dry with air compressor to minimize water spots; reassemble with synthetic lubricants

Sonic Cleaning plus Micro-Calibration
An unobstructed airway is essential to brass instruments playing as intended, and appropriately calibrating your slides and valves can yield dramatic improvements. The felts and rubber bumpers on your pistons and rotors aren't just there to quiet the noise of the valve moving; they also stop the valve's motion at just the right moment so the ports in the valve and its casing are aligned.
Similarly, tuning slides and trombone slides move best when all four tubes (upper and lower, inner and outer) are parallel and true. We use an array of measuring equipment and calibration materials in this service to achieve better alignment of slides and valves according to these objectives
